Faculty Advisors and Students:
The form to create or change a student’s advisory committee is moving to One.iu.edu. We have been selected to test the new process. Because it is in the testing phase, they caution there could be bumps along the way so your patience is appreciated. Students – as of now, please do not use the form in CICADA – use the links below instead. If you have recently submitted a form through CICADA, that is fine. You don’t have to resubmit it in One.
To avoid committee confusion, here are some definitions:
Advisory Committee: This committee sees a student through quals. and signs off on the nomination to candidacy. It must be formed within the student’s 1st year in the program. Single majors: 3 faculty (2 major; 1 minor); Double majors: 4 faculty (2 from each major).
Research Committee: Also called the Dissertation Committee. This committee is formed after candidacy and sees the student through the dissertation and defense. Single and Double majors must have 4 committee members.
Form the Committee: eDoc for new Advisory Committee
Change Membership of Committee: eDoc for Advisory Committee Change
The form will route to the committee members, me, and Amy before routing to the College graduate office. Be sure to check your action lists in One.IU. Students are responsible for tracking their eDocs. At the end of this email I have pasted instructions on how to track eDocs.
Let me know if you have any questions. I’m actually excited about this change. Maybe I need to get out more? ;)
Tracking eDocs: You are responsible for tracking your forms. In One.IU search for “document search.” From the document search, enter your username to find all the eDocs you have submitted. On the far right of the screen is the “route log.” Open the route log and you can see who has approved the form and who needs to approve it. If you find it particularly hard to get someone to approve the form in a timely manner, please alert Patricia and/or Dr. Amy Holtzworth-Munroe (Director of Graduate Studies).
